Billy b
Harbourfront Centre, in partnership with TDJ and The Other Operation present a solo concert at the Sirius Satellite Radio Stage by legendary UK singer-songwriterBilly BraggJune 17, 2008Considered "a national treasure" in his native England, Billy Bragg has long been a cult hero in North America, releasing consistently celebrated solo records and recording with everyone from Wilco to Less Than Jake. In his two and a half decades of carrying the torch, Bragg has melded the folksy populism of Woody Guthrie with the anger and indignation of the Clash, and both are perfectly encapsulated on his Anti-Records debut Mr. Love and Justice. Over the years, Bragg has concerned himself with social justice, while never losing sight of the power of the personal relationships that hold us together and are capable of bringing about the kind of redemption that outstrips even the greatest political movements, sentiments highlighted on opening track "I Keep Faith". Songs such as "O Freedom" and "Farm Boy" are classic Bragg: mercilessly perceptive, yet hauntingly personal in the manner of their storytelling.Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 on the day of performance. Advance tickets are now on sale through the Harbourfront Centre Box Office by calling 416-973-4000 or online at www.harbourfrontcentre.com and are available by phone and online through Ticketmaster.ca (416-870-8000). The concert takes place at the Sirius Satellite Radio Stage (235 Queens Quay West, Toronto). Performances begin at 8 p.m., ending at 11 p.m.Websites: http://www.mrloveandjustice.net/

Memories:
I was just thinking about how Joel Plaskett has duct tape on his guitar. I liked his phrase "drop lyrics on you."
I could swear it was him and the Emergency band I cut off on my way to see that very show, while I was singing, out loud "its almost summer, yeeeeeeeah..."
Incidentally, they turned out to be just-as-fast-as-me-walkers I cut off in vain.
